Sterling & Wilson is a global Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) leader and the world’s largest solar EPC company. The company is headquartered in Mumbai, India and has significant operations in more than 40 countries worldwide, including the US, the UK, Australia, the UAE and Brazil. Sterling & Wilson is part of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group (SP Group), a Forbes global 2000 conglomerate. The group includes several widely recognized household brands in India, including the brand of Eureka Forbes, which is widely recognized for home appliances and the Aquaguard line of water purifiers.
While Sterling & Wilson traditionally focussed on doing Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) projects, over the last decade the company has rapidly grown its global operations in power plants, waste to energy, turnkey data centers, transmission and distribution, and solar power.
Sterling & Wilson’s has always had a deep focus and steadfast commitment to provide safe and occupationally healthy workplaces across their global construction sites and other facilities. To support this commitment and a vision to mitigate all possible occupational risks and hazards, the company developed meticulous processes and workflows that are designed to manage workplace safety. However, the forward-thinking organization quickly understood that the lack of a centralized and automated platform, and the use of paper-based forms, along with disparate systems did not help them realize their safety vision. This was particularly challenging with several of the sites being remotely located. The reporting of incidents and safety hazard observations, inspections and compliance audits, etc., had become a daunting challenge. Additionally, the disparate systems did not allow for standardized data reporting. Manual data reporting raised concerns regarding the ACT (Accuracy, Completeness, Timeliness) attributes of reported data. To compound the issues further, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and guidelines for various local, regional and international locations turned into a time-intensive and labor-intensive exercise.
Recognizing the challenges that the company was facing, Sterling & Wilson partnered with ProcessMAP Corporation to digitally transform their workplace health and safety processes.
